The bigger water (Class IV & V) is a bigger distance away. A great spot for Class IV is the Hudson River Gorge. It's near Lake George and is about 5 hours from NYC. Of course it would be impossible to drive 5 hours and raft 6 hours of class IV all in 1 day. So, best plan is to go up on a Friday, raft on Sat, come back on Sun. This does mean taking a day off and of course involves getting lodging for 2 nights. But the missus and I did it last year and then 5 of us from the group did it again shortly after Labor Day. The ride is just awesome! The pic at the top of our welcome page is from that trip. So, would like to determine the level of interest from this year's group and , if possible to figure out which aspects do and don't work for people.
